Behavioural Guidance Policy.

At little M-Destiny, we believe in fostering a positive and nurturing  environment that encourages children to develop social skills, self regulation, and respectful behaviour. Our Behavioural Guidance policy aims to promote a safe,Inclusive, and supportive  atmosphere where each child can thrive and learn effectively.
Guiding Principles:

. Positive Reinforcement strategies to encourage  and acknowledge desired behaviours. Praise ,encouragement, and rewards are employed to reinforce positive conduct effort.

.Clear Expectations: We establish clear an age-appropriate  expectations for behaviour, emphasizing kindness, respect, cooperation, and empathy.These expectations are communicated regularly and consistently to the children.

. Modelling  Behaviour: Teachers model positive behaviour be demonstrating patience, empathy, and effective communication. They serve as role models for children to emulate.

. Individualized Approach: We recognize that each child is unique, with different temperaments and learning styles.Our behavioural guidance strategies are tailored to meet individual needs and address specific behaviour challenges  sensitively and effectively.

.Conflict Resolution: Children are guided through conflict resolution strategies that encourage them to express their feelings, listen to others, and find mutually acceptable solutions.Teachers facilitate discussions  to resolve conflicts peacefully.

.Redirecting Behaviour: When addressing  challenging behaviour, we utilize redirection and positive guidance techniques. Children are redirected toward more appropriate activities while understanding the reasons behind redirection.

Disciplinary Measures:

. Consistent Approach: Discipline is approached as a means to teach and guide rather than to punish.Any corrective action is carried out in a fair, consistent, and developmentally appropriate manner.

 .Progressive Discipline:Discipline measures are applied progressively starting  with verbal reminders, redirection, and discussions about behaviour expectations.The following use of punishment is totally prohibited from the program:

. Any form of physical punishment, verbal or physical degradation or emotional deprivation.

. Deny or threaten to deny any basic necessity.

.Use or permit the use of any form of physical restraint, confinement or isolation.

.The use of physical restraint in the classroom is not permitted, except in instances when the child is at immediate risk of injuring him/herself or others.

Collaboration with Parents/Guardians:

Open communication between teachers and parents/guardians is encouraged to address behavioural concerns.We work collaboratively to develop strategies  that support children's positive behaviour at preschool or home.

At Little M- Destiny we are committed to creating a nurturing environment that fosters positive behaviour, emotional growth, and social development in our young learners.

Off-Site Activity

At Little M-Destiny, off-Site activities serve as valuable extensions of our curriculum ,providing enriching experiences for our students.This policy aims to ensure the safety, well being, and appropriate supervision of children during off-site excursions.

Planning and Approval:

. purposely planning: Off -site activities  are planned to complement and enhance the learning experiences of our students. Each excursion is aligned with specific educational objectives and curriculum goals.

. Risk Assessment: Prior to any off-site activity's thorough risk assessment is conducted  to identify potential hazards  and develop strategies  to mitigate risks. This include transportation  safety, venue suitability, emergency procedures, and child supervision.

 Parent/Guardian consent:

written consent from parent or legal guardians is obtained before any off-site activity. The consent form outlines details  of the excursion, including location, date, time, duration, transportation arrangements, and emergency contact information. If Witten permissions not signed, or parent does not want their child to attend the off-site activity or field-trip, the child will nor be able to attend the program this period of time.

Safety And Supervision:

Ratio and supervision: Adequate adult supervision is ensured at all times during off-site activities.The teacher -to-student ratio is maintained according to regulatory requirements and best practices for safety of the children. Little M-Destiny maintain an appropriate adult-to-child ratio for supervision, the program will request parents to volunteer for our field-trip.

Transportation and Travel:

.Transportation safety : Transportation arrangements,Whether by bus, walking, or other means, adhere to safety  standards.seat belt used when applicable, and vehicles  used  for transportation are regularly  inspected and maintained.

. Travel Itinerary: a detailed itinerary, including the excursion  destination, departure, and return times, planned activities, and contact information for staff and emergency  services, is shared  with all involve parties.

Accountability and Evaluation:

. Accountability Measures:Teachers and volunteer are accountable for supervision and safety of the children throughout the of-site activity.Regular headcount and check-in are conducted to ensure all children are accounted for.

.Post Activity Evaluation:Following each off-site activity, a debriefing session is held to asses the success of the excursion, identify areas for improvement, and gather feedback from staff, students, and parents.

At Little M-Destiny, the safety and the well- being of our students are paramount, and this policy ensures that off-site activities  are conducted with careful planning,  supervision, and safety measures in place. 

Illness:

For the the protection of all children, parents are advised to keep their child home if he/she is sick.This policy aims to prevent the spread of contagious illness, provide guidelines for managing sick children, and promote healthy environment for all.

Guideline for Parents/Guardians:

. Reporting Illness: Parents/Guardians are required to inform preschool if their child  is ill or displaying symptoms of contagious illness, including fever, vomiting, diarrhea, rash, or persistent  cough.

. Exclusion Period:Children should be kept home if they are ill and exhibiting symptoms that may be contagious  to others.A minimum  exclusion  period determined  based on a specific illness and in compliance with health authority recommendations.

.Return to preschool:Children must be symptom free for a specified period, as determined by the preschool health authorities, before returning to the preschool.A doctor note may be required in certain case.

Procedure at preschool:

. Isolation area:If a child become ill during the day, they will be kept in an isolation area away from other children until parent/guardian arrive for pick-up.

.Cleaning and Disinfection:

Regular cleaning and disinfection of surfaces, toys, and common areas are conducted to maintain a hygienic environment and prevent the spread of illness.

Medication:

At Little M-Destiny, the administration of the medication to children is handled with utmost care, ensuring the safety, well being, and proper management  of prescribed medications as needed.

Guideline for Parents/Guardians:

1. Medication Authorization form:Parents/Guardians must complete and sign a medication Authorization form before any medication can be administered  at preschool.This form includes  details of the medication, dosage, administration times, and any specific instructions.

2. Submission of Medication:

Medication must be provided in the original, labeled container with the child's name, medication name, dosage, and prescribing physician's information clearly  visible.

3. Expiration  Date: All medications must be within their expiration date.Expired medications will not be administrated.

Procedure for Medication Administration:

1. Designated Personal: only designated staff members, trained in medication administration

 and first aid, are permitted to administer  medications to children. They follow strict protocols to ensure accuracy and safety.

2. Storage of Medications:Medications are stored securely, out of reach of children, I a designated, locked area to prevent unauthorized access.

Emergency Medication:

1. Emergency  Medication Authorization :If a child requires emergency medication, such as epinephrine auto -injector for severe allergies, parents/Guardians must provide written authorization for its use in case of an emergency.

2.Emergency Response Training:Staff members receive training on recognizing and responding  to medical emergencies  including the use of emergency medications.

Communication with Parents /Guardians:

1. Notification of Administration: Parents/Guardians  are informed of any medication administered to their child on the same day, including details of the dosage  and time.

2. Communication  of Changes:Any changes in medication, dosage, or administration instructions must be communicated promptly  by parents/guardians to the preschool.

At Little M-Destiny, we prioritize the safety and well-being of or children.Our medication administration policy insures that medications are administered responsibly, with proper documentation and adherence to established procedures.

Nutrition:

Little M-Destiny  is a nuts free environment.Parents need to pack a healthy lunch and snacks for their child everyday as well a water bottle.It is crucial for parents to inform the program about any allergies their child may have.Open communication regarding allergies enable us to be proactive in preventing potential allergic reactions and promptly addressing any concerns, fostering a collaborative partnership between parents and our preschool community to prioritize the health and safety of every child.

Potty Training:

We accept children who are not fully potty trained yet, if they are in the process.

Pick up Time:

At little M-Destiny, ensuring the safety, security, and smooth transition of the children during pick-up times is a priority. This policy aims to establish clear guidelines for the arrival and departure of the children from the preschool premises.

Regular Pick -up Time:

1. Schedule Pick up hour: Parents/guardians are expected to pick up their children during the designated  pick-up hours as specified  in the preschool's schedule.Late pick-up can disrupt the child's routine and impact staff schedules.The program is unable to offer childcare after hours. 

2.Authorized Individuals: Children  will only be released  to individuals authorized by parent/guardian  and listed on the child's authorized pick-up list.Photo identification may required

for individuals not regularly  picking up the child.

Late pick-up charges:

A late pick-up fee may applied for arrivals beyond the schedule  pick-up hours.The fee is established to cover additional staffing  costs incurred  due to late pick-up.

2.Repeated late pick-up:Repeated instances of late pick-up may result in further action, including discussions with

parent/guardian to ensure the child's well-being and compliance with the policy.

Emergency Situation:

Emergency contact:In case of unexpected delays or emergencies preventing timely pick-up, parents/guardian are encouraged to notify the preschool immediately to arrange alternative pick-up arrangement.

At Little M- Destiny, adherence to pick-up time policy ensures the smooth operation of our programs and the safety and comfort of all children in our care during arrival and departure times.
